Can We Pursue Academic Excellence with Humility?

As followers of Jesus in academia, we face many challenges from a vocational culture that celebrates and even glorifies the achievements of man and emphasizes reputation, often through self-promotion. In this new “year” of the Boston Faculty Fellowship (BFF) we will explore some of these cultural tensions to glean insights from Scripture and from one another’s experiences to encourage and equip one another to live out our academic callings in faithful obedience to Jesus.

In our Sunday discussions we will draw from portions of the New Testament book of Philippians, a letter written by Paul from prison yet filled with inspiring examples of joy, hope and confidence in the Lord and humble surrender to His purposes, to consider how best to root our vocational work in Christ and how to encourage and support one another in those endeavors.
